2025 Conscious Culture and Art Award

Barceló Hotel Group: a festival that preserves cultural heritage

Barceló Hotel Group receives the Conscious Culture and Art Award at the Traveling for Happiness 2025 awards by Santa Catalina Classics. A project that not only celebrates classical music, but also integrates artistic and cultural richness into its surroundings, contributing to the well-being of the local community and incorporating more sustainable practices for both participants and spectators.

Since its first edition four years ago, Santa Catalina Classics has established itself as a bridge between historical heritage and classical music. With more than 130 years of history, the Santa Catalina Hotel , a Royal Hideaway Hotel, located in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, becomes a living stage for this event. The presence of internationally renowned figures, together with emerging young talents, promotes dialogue between generations and access to an artistic repertoire that enriches the tourist and cultural destination.

Social welfare and cultural experience

It is not limited to musical celebration, but also promotes cultural development by creating open and accessible meeting spaces that encourage the participation of different audiences and strengthen the emotional connection with art. The festival experience seeks to be reflective and transformative, inviting spectators and travelers to approach classical music from a critical and conscious perspective.

In order to reinforce the social impact of the project and consolidate culture as an element of community cohesion and enrichment, it has the collaboration of the Canary Islands Institute of Cultural Development and Promotur, companies of the Canary Islands Government, the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, the City Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, as well as several private sector companies, including Saphir Joyeros, Marsh, Caixabank, Mercedes-Benz (Louzao Canarias), Grupo DISA, Grupo Constant, and L'Or Professional. This network of alliances reinforces the collective nature of the project and its vocation to generate cultural and social value beyond the stage itself.

Sustainability and positive impact

As part of Barceló Hotel Group's Barceló ReGen strategy, the festival incorporates practices that minimize environmental impact and reinforce the commitment to more sustainable tourism. By aligning the project with environmental responsibility criteria, it demonstrates how cultural initiatives can coexist with environmental conservation, generating a lasting positive impact on the destination. This project shows that culture is not a complement, but a central and conscious element of tourism development, capable of enhancing the visitor experience.

One of the festival's objectives is to support the local community by boosting the Canary Islands' economy and reducing its carbon footprint. Photo: Santa Catalina Classics, Barceló Hotel Group
